The Australian College of Sport & Fitness has been providing award winning education for more than 29 years. We are a nationally accredited training provider and our qualifications are recognised by leading industry associations in Australia and worldwide.

We have four campuses in four different cities (Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane) allowing students to choose a package or transfer an existing programme to live, study and experience student life right across Australia. So why not launch a new career in the sport and fitness industry with our unique, industry focussed training programmes.

Our classroom fitness and massage courses involve interactive and inspiring classes, containing a blend of theory and practical sessions. The theory classes are based in on-campus classrooms while the fitness related courses have their practical sessions conducted in a real life gym environment and the massage practical classes are performed in a massage clinic setting. Each day contains fun, dynamic lessons with plenty of practical learning.

We offer students four intakes per year across any of our four campus locations for all of our qualifications. Intake months are January, April, July and October.

The college offers three fitness courses, a sport and recreational management course and two massage courses. Any of our courses can potentially be combined. For example, the Certificate III in Fitness + Certificate IV in Fitness + Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management = 2.5 years of study in total.

Certificate III in Fitness

The Certificate III in Fitness is the entry level course into the fitness industry. This qualification trains individuals to work as a fitness instructor, a gym instructor and a group fitness instructor. No pre-requisite previous qualifications are required.

Certificate IV in Fitness

The next step up from the Certificate III in Fitness is the Certificate IV in Fitness, which progresses on the knowledge and skill of a fitness instructor to perform one-on-one training. In addition, the individual will specialise in the strength and conditioning, training older adults and children. Applicants need to have completed the Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent.

Diploma of Fitness

The Diploma of Fitness provides more advanced skills and knowledge to fitness professionals, to close the gap between a personal trainer and an allied health professional. Once qualified, the fitness professional is qualified as a specialised and rehabilitation trainer to perform training for special populations.

Specific areas of study include exercise training for individual clients with specific needs or special conditions on a one-on-one or group basis, and may include older clients and children with chronic conditions. Applicants need to have completed the Certificate IV in Fitness or equivalent.

Massage

Certificate IV in Massage

This course provides skills in therapeutic relaxation massage including basic health assessment and treatment. Students are able to tailor their programme according to their own personal interest by adding their choice of elective massage module.

Some of the modalities covered by our range of elective modules include reflexology; aromatherapy; Tui Na; Shiatsu; Myofascial Release; Lomi Lomi; sports; pregnancy massage; and rehabilitation massage.

Diploma of Remedial Massage

This is designed for massage therapists who want to upgrade their skills and qualifications. The on campus programme is delivered across six modules, some of which are delivered as classroom modules and some as home study modules. It is highly flexible and will suit massage therapists currently working in the industry.

Sport and recreation management

Diploma of Sport And Recreation Management

The Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management develops graduates to apply their skills and knowledge to work in the sport and recreation industry in a management or organisational capacity.

The qualification compliments existing technical qualifications such as fitness or massage by developing those skills to take a management role with an organisation. This could be in a range of settings such as health centres, fitness centres and gyms, outdoor sporting grounds or community recreation centres. No pre-requisite previous qualifications required.

Industry and international recognition

Our graduates qualifications are recognised by leading industry and international associations. Depending on the qualification these may include Fitness Australia; Physical Activity Australia; the Australian Association of Massage Therapists; European Register of Exercise Professionals; International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals.
