Government owned and operated, TAFE SA is South Australia’s largest vocational education and training (VET) provider, delivering more than 90 award courses to international students across over 47 modern and well equipped sites.

Over the last 30 years, TAFE SA has helped more than one million students get the careers they want. Courses offered to international students at TAFE SA include certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas as well as higher education qualifications across a broad selection of study areas.

Campuses and facilities

TAFE SA has 47 campuses which stretch from the heart of the Adelaide CBD throughout the city’s suburbs and out to regional South Australia.

Campus facilities are state of the art and offer a variety of specialised training facilities including virtual enterprises, theatres, studios, restaurants, kitchens, workshops, nursing wards, dental clinics and hair and beauty salons. Campuses also offer a range of facilities for students including libraries, study rooms, computer suites, prayer rooms, child care centres, cafeterias, student common areas, food preparation facilities and easy access to public transport.

International students generally choose to study at metropolitan campuses, most of them within 15km from the CBD. Some of these campuses include the Adelaide Campus, Adelaide College of the Arts, Regency Park Campus, Gilles Plains Campus, Port Adelaide Campus, Urrbrae Campus, Sustainable Industries Education Centre (Tonsley TAFE).

Teaching and links with industry

Strong working relationships with business and industry mean that TAFE SA courses are designed to give students the real-world skills needed by employers, making our qualifications highly sought after. Some TAFE SA courses offer students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience of working in their chosen field through work placements. Our lecturers are highly experienced and qualified in their field and ensure that they stay up-to-date with current industry skills and knowledge. 

Student life in Adelaide

Adelaide’s lower cost of living means that students here enjoy great quality of life, with rent, transport costs and food all more affordable than in most other Australian cities. All international students at TAFE SA get free airport pick-up and accommodation support upon arrival in Adelaide in order to help them settle in to their new surroundings more easily.

TAFE SA has its own student accommodation – Regency International House – which is on the TAFE SA Regency Campus, just 15 minutes from the centre of Adelaide. It is close to public transport, shopping centres and a wide variety of multicultural restaurants and offers 24 hour security, comfort and care.

There are many other accommodation options in Adelaide to suit all budgets and needs including student residences, homestay and private rental accommodation.

International students at TAFE SA have access to a wide array of support services in order to make their transition to studying and living in Australia as easy as possible.

Support services are designed to help students succeed and are available from the moment students arrive right through until their graduation.

Services on offer include an orientation programme on arrival; counseling and academic support.
