Major Cities: Adelaide

This state divides into two very distinct halves. The south, with the quietly genteel, laid-back city of Adelaide at its centre, is hugely green and fertile – South Australia is wine-growing country, and a real destination for foodies. The northern half of the state, however, is true Outback country – dry, with scorching temperatures and few (hardy) inhabitants.
