My agent introduced me to Holmesglen and I can say that without a doubt it was the best recommendation he could have given me. Holmesglen was the perfect choice – not only was it reasonably priced, but the classes were small, offering individual attention, and the opportunity to access lecturers easily when I had queries. When I compared my experience with that of my friends studying at other universities, they were impressed by the extra assistance provided at Holmesglen and also by the practical nature of what I was learning. The degree was designed around student centred principles which included project-based learning, case-based learning and problem-based learning. This meant that I learned how to apply what I was learning to real-life accounting practice, not just the theory behind it.
Melbourne is a terrific place to study. I did think I might have difficulty adjusting to the weather as people had told me it was cold. But within a few weeks I began to find the weather really quite pleasant and not as cold as I had expected. Holmesglen offers lots of activities to student and it was a good way to meet people from other courses and to see a little of this wonderful city. Melburnians love sport and there are all sorts of different sporting events taking place throughout the year – tennis, Formula 1, Aussie Rules football, cricket, surfing - you name it and you can find it in Melbourne.
In my spare time, I was able to find a part-time job, once again using the facilities of Holmesglen’s Student Services Department. I also volunteered as a Student Ambassador for CPA Australia which helped me learn more about the field of Accounting in Australia. It was a great experience.
I feel that together with a highly recognized degree, I developed as a person – taking responsibility for my learning, for myself and becoming more confident and professional in my approach with others.
I can highly recommend Holmesglen. I have no doubt that what I have learned here has given me a great start in my professional career.
