New opportunities for Chefs, Bricklayers and Tilers in Australia

Australia’s Skilled Occupation List will soon be updated to include opportunities for trained chefs, bricklayers, floor and wall tilers to apply for visas without employer sponsorship.

The change is due to a shortage of these skilled workers in the areas of hospitality and construction.  Both industries are projected to experience strong growth in the near future.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection Australia’s Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is used for people applying for the independent or family sponsored points tested visa or temporary graduate (subclass 485) – graduate work stream.  Chefs, bricklayers and tilers will be added to the existing list of 188 professions from 1st July 2014.
