Emilia’s story

“My stay in Australia definitely is the best experience of my life. During study in Australia you have a fantastic opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Australia is a beautiful country so different from Europe. Being here you have a chance to see the unique Australian flora and fauna that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.”

Emilia loves the outdoors and never felt suited to a career in the office, so she took a chance and followed her passion to enrol in the Diploma of Conservation and Land Management at TAFE Western Australia.

Western Australia is known for its amazing weather and pristine wilderness. Studying at TAFE Western Australia gave Emilia access to some of the top experts in conservation who taught her the latest industry skills and knowledge all with the spectacular natural surrounds of Western Australia as her 'classroom'.

TAFE Western Australia has campuses in both city and regional locations and this includes the historic and charming beach city of Albany on Western Australia's rugged south-west coast, about 4 hours' drive from Perth.

More laid back than a big city, Albany is known for its national parks, mountain ranges and beautiful beaches. Students can go surfing in their lunch break, whale watching, hiking in the surrounding bushland and mountains. The city is also famous for its cultural scene with top Australian and international bands and artists performing in the city all year round.

As a popular nature tourism destination and centre for the agricultural, conservation and fishing industries, it’s also a great place for international students to pick up part-time work. In Western Australia students get paid higher average wages while also benefiting from a low cost of living. A recent survey for example, found that Perth, the capital city of WA, is now more affordable than Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide (The Economist, 2016). This means your money goes further in Western Australia and can help cover your living and entertainment costs.

After a year of study and experiences soaking up the Western Australian sun, Emilia has an international qualification that makes her stand out from the crowd and memories she will never forget.
