A lucky group of students at ACG Yoobee’s campus in Wellington recently received a 2D concept design masterclass delivered by two senior concept designers from Weta Digital – the New Zealand studio responsible for many of the special effects in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and many other films.

This was an amazing opportunity for students from all levels to learn from the best in the business.  Paul Tobin and Nicholas Keller conveyed to students what industry expects and also delivered design skills, design composition and design process to the students.

Paul also donated some signed copies of his newest book project White Cloud Worlds for ACG Yoobee students.

ACG Yoobee and Weta Digital have collaborated on several projects and have had a number of students go on to work in Weta Digital after graduating.

ACG Yoobee's Diploma of Animation (Advanced) includes storyboarding, pre-production, animating, character design, modelling and rigging. Students will develop visual effects and post production techniques, art and computer graphic design skills and get the inside scoop on industry practice.
