New name for CPIT & Aoraki Polytechnic

CPIT and Aoraki Polytechnic have recently joined together to become Ara Institute of Canterbury.  The new institute will bring vocational training to the entire Canterbury region with campuses in Christchurch and Timaru.

Underpinning the new institute's name is the Māori phrase Ara rau, taumata rau, meaning many pathways, many opportunities, which embodies the essence of Ara.

Sydney TAFE International Student Scholarships

Sydney TAFE have announced a number of partial scholarships on offer to students commencing their studies in July 2016 or February 2017.

Students studying a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree course (minimum 1.5 years in duration) can apply. Scholarships winners will be credited with AU$2,000 towards their tuitions fees in their third semester of studies.

For students commencing their studies in Semester 2 2016, the application deadline for the scholarships is 6 May 2016.

Scholarships for automotive students enrolling at Kangan Institute

Kangan Institute is offering a semester’s scholarship to students enrolling in the two-year automotive package at their Automotive Centre of Excellence in Bendigo.  Winners of the scholarships will receive an AU$8000 fee discount in their final semester.

The two-year automotive package at Kangan includes: Certificate III in Light Vehicle; Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis; and the Diploma of Automotive Technology.

Weta senior designers visit ACG Yoobee students

A lucky group of students at ACG Yoobee’s campus in Wellington recently received a 2D concept design masterclass delivered by two senior concept designers from Weta Digital – the New Zealand studio responsible for many of the special effects in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and many other films.
