Originally from Germany, teacher Sebastian Grewe believes in the value of a lifelong learning. His planned working holiday in New Zealand morphed into an opportunity to further his education and diversify his skills when he decided to enrol in TPP’s Diploma in Outdoor Instruction and Guiding.

He came, he saw … and he came back for more. Mark Bielby enjoyed his first year at TPP so much that he returned for a second year to complete the Diploma in Outdoor Instruction and Guiding.

‘The certificate year was great fun; I absolutely loved it. And coming this far, from the UK, I soon decided it would be better to get a more advanced qualification. The diploma is more in-depth, more challenging, more interesting – and I’m sure it will open up more opportunities.’

The Certificate in Superyacht Crewing course at NMIT (Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology) is an excellent course for those interested in working in the global industry of superyachting.  During the programme students train in real-life environments and qualify to work as an entry-level crew member on super yachts around the world.

NMIT’s graduates have gone on to work on luxury superyachts in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Pacific. Superyacht crewing is a great way to see the world!

TAFE colleges in Queensland have recently been restructured and rebranded, so some of the names that may be familiar to you have now been updated.  The twelve former colleges in the state have been unified under six new names.  TAFE Queensland is now made up of:

The Certificate III in Bricklaying/Block laying is an Australian trade level that is recognised worldwide. Completing the bricklaying course at Silver Trowel Trade Training will leave you with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to work on a building site in the areas of bricklaying and block laying, anywhere in the world.

Australia’s Skilled Occupation List will soon be updated to include opportunities for trained chefs, bricklayers, floor and wall tilers to apply for visas without employer sponsorship.

The change is due to a shortage of these skilled workers in the areas of hospitality and construction.  Both industries are projected to experience strong growth in the near future.

"I was already living in Canberra when I decided to start studying and from my research I thought that CIT would be best suited to me and for my choice of study, especially because of the study paths that were available to me.

"I found that the teachers at CIT are very supportive and always had time to answer any questions or to provide advice when needed. The teaching styles are interactive and engaging with open discussion as well as lots of group discussion, which I think is really important, it encourages everyone to contribute, share ideas and give their input.

TAFE Queensland has been undergoing some changes recently, and have just announced the launch of the rebranded TAFE Brisbane college.  TAFE Brisbane is an amalgamation of three exisiting institutes around the city of Brisbane - Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT), Southbank Institute of TAFE (SBIT) and Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT).
